Dear Faithful Friend of the Holy Land:
Every day, things are happening in the Holy Land that impact Christians. The Holy Land is the crossroads of peoples, religions and cultures. It is the cradle of the three monotheistic religions, where Jews, Muslims and Christians interact daily. It is the land of our redemption. Up-to-date news and information from the Holy Land is critical. You now have the opportunity to receive in-depth news in the pages of The Holy Land Review.
The Holy Land Review is a quarterly magazine published by the Holy Land Franciscans. The Holy Land Review provides you with information that’s deeper than the headline news. The Holy Land Review is filled with stories of hope. The magazine offers readers insightful reports from biblical and archaeological experts about faith, culture and archaeology.
More than 700 years ago, the Roman Catholic Church entrusted the guardianship of the Holy Land and other shrines of the Christian religion to the Order of St. Francis. The Holy Land Review presents personal and inside perspectives that can be provided only by the Franciscans, caretakers of the Holy Land’s precious Christian community since the thirteenth century. In every issue, you will find:
- Eye-opening archaeological discoveries that cast new light on the world in which Jesus Christ lived, taught and died.
- Vivid photography and narratives that breathe life into the people, places and events of the Gospels.
- Unique and insightful essays on the many diverse cultures in the Holy Land.
- In-depth analyses of the region’s political environment.
Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, recently said, “As Christians, we have an historical task: not to abandon the land of the Lord, (but) to be there, to stay there, to be Christians there.”
The Holy Land Review is the official publication of the Franciscans of the Holy Land. It is published four times a year, and its mission is to keep its readers and friends up-to-date on the news in the Holy Land and the pastoral efforts of the Franciscans in that special land of our Christian history.
