The organization of the Knights of Mount St. Sepulchre was founded in 1916 by Fr. Godfrey Schilling to assist with the large number of visitors to the monastery. The organization in many respects is modeled after the ancient religious-equestrian order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Its mission is to assist the Friars of the Franciscan Monastery in promoting interest in the Catholic Church and in the Holy Land.
Membership is open to practicing Catholic men, both single and married, who are 21 years of age or older. Obligations include serving two Sundays a month and on special holy days. Members also conduct tours of the Church and Catacombs.
To obtain more information on becoming a Knight, call (202) 526-6800 during the week, or (202) 529-9890 on Sundays.
