Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have light and life.” (John 8:12)
For us Christians, a lighted candle symbolizes Christ, the Light of the world. And so it is that when we light a candle, we are connecting our minds and hearts to Him.
We welcome you to light a candle here at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land. Lighting a candle will connect you to inner stillness and to a global community. Feel this connectedness. Slow your pace and offer these moments in prayer.
Link your heart with friends and loved ones, punctuate a prayer, ask for or give support, mark an anniversary… a death… a birth… a birthday… healing…friendship…or just to affirm this moment!
When you light a candle for someone who needs it, whether that person is a family member, a relative, a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, a leader or someone we met on the streets, we are affirming and witnessing to the purpose of our being here. No one really lives alone. God never desired anyone to live an isolated life. We were meant to be a community of God’s children.
Your gift is tax-deductible, and will help us continue our ministries to Christians living in the Holy Land and to the Catholic Church here at home.
Thank you for lighting a Candle here at the Franciscan Monastery.
